Image Editing for Artists Workshop Deadline Approaching

Though many of you may have seen posts or heard about the workshops I’m teaching through the Rogue Gallery & Art Center later this month, you may not have registered yet. If you were thinking about attending, please register today! The Social Networking to Promote Your Art workshop we had planned for March 10 has been cancelled because too many artists figured they’d wait til the last minute. Now that minute has come and gone, so don’t miss this one! To register, contact Education Director Brooke Nuckles-Gentekos at 541.772.8118 x 301 or rgaceducation@roguegallery.org

I’ll present Image Editing in Photoshop for Artists on Saturday, March 16. The beginning class starts at 10:30am and ends at noon, intermediate begins at 1:00 pm and ends at 3:00 pm. We’ll meet in the Computer Lab (Room 108) at RCC, where there are a number of computers we can use if you don’t have a laptop. They have Photoshop installed, so you’ll have everything you need for hands-on practice of the image editing tasks you’ll learn. Except the images! Please bring images of your art you’d like to work with on a thumb drive or CD-RW (so you can re-burn the disc with your edited images).

We will go step by step through a number of common editing tasks artist need to know how to do when preparing their images for the web and to submit to festivals and art shows, some of which are frequently done incorrectly and others that are hard to figure out how to do. Come with a list of questions, art images with problems you can’t figure out how to fix and specific things you’d like to learn so I can tailor the presentation to your current needs.

Home Page Update for London Hummingbird Arts

Though Janet has boldly updated various parts of tamlondonhummingbirdarts.com numerous times, her site’s home page remained unchanged since its launch early in 2008. During this time she has done many creative experiments with her art and her workshops, growing and learning in the process, and recently decided that the Luminous Mandala workshops she facilitates with friend and colleague Diane Tibbitts have so outshined the others she has done that she wanted to showcase them and the path she took to reach them on her landing page. The luminous mandalas she and her students create are beautiful, and the success of the therapeutic healing work that accompanies the art is far beyond what she has seen with other techniques. Have a look and enjoy reading the outline of her wonderful journey!

Valentine’s Day Site Update for Cowboy Flowers

Last weekend I finished up a flier and site update for www.cowboyflowers.com to showcase the Valentine’s Day arrangements owner Barb Wallgren will be featuring. She’s also offering a 10% discount off online orders to be delivered Feb 10 & 11, so if you ‘re planning to give flowers to a loved one, you might want to take a look! Not all the arrangements are shown on her flier below, or even on her website, so you may want to like her page and connect with her on Facebook, too.

Newly Completed Website: RioQuerencia.com

Oh I am so pleased with the site I just finished, and delighted that my client, Alice LaMoree, is too! She’s already gotten sweet feedback ranging from YUUUMMMYYY!!! to “Elegant and Professional”. That puts a smile on my face today. We began this site quite some time ago, but as we all know, “Life Happens” sometimes. It happened to Alice after creating a lovely design for the site, so we had to put further development on hold for a while. Recently she found the time to put together the resources I would need to complete her site and she had put so much time into thinking about the remaining presentation that it came together easily and was smoooth sailing through to the end. I invite you to check out her site, not just to review my design but to enjoy the beautiful photographic images she now has displayed in three different galleries! I just love her creative eye and hope that you will find one you like so much that you’ll consider a purchase…www.rioquerencia.com

Site Update for Jannie Ledard Glass Art

I recently updated Jannie Ledard’s website, www.jannieledardglassart.com, to show pieces in her stained glass section that have sold and adding a few new pieces. They’re spectacular and really deserve a look! We’ll be adding some new pieces to her fused glass jewelry page soon, I’ll post again when that’s ready.

Meanwhile, I spent the weekend working on a logo design for a startup company in Southern Oregon and anticipate beginning their new website shortly. Mostly under wraps until they’re ready to begin promoting it, but I’ll post links as soon as they are.

I also put up a one-page site for Southern Oregon music label Revelation Cafe, representing Lazar and Tribal Frequencies. Lazar was quite the sensation when he first debuted earlier this year, and he joined up with JT Witness to form Tribal Frequencies. There’s an iTunes preview module in the page – take a listen and tell us what you think when sharing on your favorite network so we can report back to them! This was fun. We’ll be adding more to this site in the future…

Thanksgiving…

I am so very thankful for my clients! Whether we’ve been working together for a long time or have a new relationship, I appreciate your business and your friendship. Thank you for both! And have a lovely Thanksgiving. I’ll be resting my eyes from too many hours on the computer and hope you’ll take a break too. Enjoy!

Latest…

Haven’t had time to post any further sites in my portfolio, and now I’m tying up loose ends to clear the way for work on two new sites. One is www.rioquerencia.com, a beautiful site I started in 2010 for a local photographer who had to stop work when a friend needed help when going through cancer therapy…then travel and other obligations kept her busy for quite some time. I met with her last week and she’s almost ready to begin the completion of her site. I can’t wait to show it to you! The other is a larger ecommerce site for a startup wine club. Can’t say too much about this one until we’re underway, but the target launch date is January 2012. It will keep me busy for a while…

A note on Hosting:

The web hosting provider I usually refer clients to is IPOWER, who I’ve hosted my own sites with since 2003. As part of the research I’ve done for the wine site, I just added another host to the list, DreamHost. If you’re looking for a place to host your website, either one of these is a good choice. Both have been around for 10 years or more, proudly feature green hosting (IPOWER’S is the best on this front, but both are earth-conscious) and provide a selection of hosting options. Take a look and see which one works best for you:

Making Progess…

Well, I have had a little time here and there to continue working on my portfolio, so please take a look to see some of my older work. I’ll stay with it, and hope to have it complete and syndicated to my Facebook page shortly as I have a substantial quote to write up for a prospective client and another prospective client to meet with on Wednesday…Wish me luck, these are two really interesting projects I would love to do!
